Introduction

With the establishment of the Mission Lanka Foundation (SML) on January 14, 2019, the step was taken to fulfill a desire to help people in Sri Lanka. This is done by contributing to sustainable peace and development in Sri Lanka.

A number of important spearheads that SML focuses on: Promoting human rights, promoting children's rights and child education, contributing to the peace-building process where possible by offering services for mediation between parties in disputes. In addition, women's rights and children's rights also receive our direct attention. Finally, we are convinced that freedom of conscience, freedom of expression and freedom of the press are necessary and contribute to a peaceful and harmonious existence of all citizens.

We want to achieve all this through a peaceful path, through politics, through Christian networks and through personal passion and love for our fellow countrymen.

Objectives of the foundation

The foundation aims to work on improving human rights in Sri Lanka, regardless of origin, religion or other (political) beliefs. The foundation wants to do this by initiating sustainable change from below by combating poverty, hunger and injustice and thus offering a better future perspective for children and their families.

In collaboration with private individuals, companies and organizations, the new generation is equipped with knowledge and opportunities to ultimately provide their own income and they are taught to work together with people who think differently.

How does SML want to achieve this goal?

The foundation wants to achieve its goal by creating sustainable connections between private individuals, companies and organizations in the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. SML wants to make their knowledge and expertise available and offer facilities for collaboration. We work in a solution-oriented manner on requests for help from Sri Lanka.

To promote the cause of human rights, peace, development cooperation and good governance, we use tools such as conducting seminars, providing counselling, issuing publications, representations to government, organizing meetings and offering conflict mediation .

What is the motivation?

The foundation works from a Christian philosophy and has an eye for every person, just like Jesus Christ did. The foundation believes in the power of the written word in the Bible and not in the power of the weapon. SML wants to achieve its objectives without taking political or religious positions. We also do not get involved in discussions about this.

Result

SML aims to help create a harmonized society with a broader social identity.
